Abstract:
Sm/SnO2 microfibers and Au-doped Sm/SnO2 (Au/Sm/SnO2 microfibers have been successfully synthesized by the electrospinning method. Structural and morphological properties of the two samples were studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the two fibers were with diameters ranging from 300 to 350 nm and both of the two fibers crystallized in tetragonal rutile SnO2crystalline structure. The gas sensors have been fabricated using these two samples. The response of Au/Sm/SnO2 gas sensor was 68.4 to 500 ppm acetylene (C2H2) and the response of Sm/SnO2 gas sensor was 16.4. Good selectivity and fast response were also observed in this work. These results indicated that the Au/Sm/SnO2 microfibers could be used to fabricate a promising C2H2 sensor in practice.
